How to format a hard drive for Phaser 8400 printer?

Xerox wants almost $1,000 for a basic notebook hard drive for the Phaser 8400. Does anyone know how to format this to work with the printer? I am sure there is a way, maybe just a regular FAT format?

Any ideas or where I should look? It will save me almost $1,000!!!

Not really sure how to format the drive, but from what I'm told, there are specific files on the drive that the Xerox printer is looking for. I'm afraid that you may have to buy the drive from Xerox.
