Hello,

does anyone know if its possible to force users to "Send As" when sending email?

I need a small group of people to get all email sent to support@mydomain.com - I'm using a distribution group for this but I also want them all to send their mail as coming from support@mydomain.com.

I've looked through the FAQs and googled it but cant find anything.

Anyone got any ideas on this?

Thanks

There's a potential problem using a DL for this sort of setup. Someone sends an email into your Support email address - your DL ensures all people in the team see it. But no one is sure whether anyone else in the team has dealt with it unless everyone always remembers to copy the DL in on any response. Very difficult for the team to manage the workflow.

A much better solution in this case would be to use a seperate, shared team mailbox - have it own the external email address, so that all inbound email to that address lands (unread) in the team mailbox. Set permissions on that shared mailbox so that everyone in the team can open it as an additional mailbox in Outlook, and also SendAs it as well. Now if one team member reads a message, the others can see that it is already read, so they don't duplicate the processing of it.

You can have the team users forced to reply using the alternate mailbox identity when they reply to mail in the shared mailbox with this utility:
There's also a utility from the same comoany that forces these outbound emails to be stored automatically in the Sent Items of the shared team mailbox (so that others in the team can see the action), without this the outbound emails defaut to the personal Sent Items.

With these enhancements, this is a much better solution than your current DL.
