Hi,
I tried to open a 2003 workbook in 2007 Excel. In fact, it opened but a Macro with AdvancedFilter and ComboBox did not work, getting some message like 'Text property of Range Class failed'. As I changed something from xxx=Range("a1").Text to xxx=Range("a1").Value, then the screen got frozen with a message like 'microsoft excel is trying to recover your information', and then it will take forever instead of a few mins. I have to turn off the PC before doing anything.

In some occasions, it says '...file format is not valid'.

Anyone has been in this kind of situation before? BTW, it was OK in 2003 Excel.

Thanks in advance.

You actually have a couple of options to successfully and easily open your spreadsheet created in Excel 2003 in Excel 2007.

My first suggestion is also the safest. Click the office button | Excel Options | Trust Center | Trust Center Settings | Trusted Locations | browse out and add the location where the excel file you want to open is located. Once it is in a trusted location....excel 2007 should not block your macros.

Second suggestion ( only if first suggestion doesn't work )

Click on the office button | Excel Options | Trust Center | Trust Center Settings | Macro Settings | Enable all Macros
