hi.
i'm testing an asp page on my local machine. iis and all the issues are fixed so that the index.asp page is displayed on "localhost". the page attempts to insert a row into an access database. but i'm getting the above error. the folder has "security and sharing" tab and i have set the folder's security to share. but when i right click on the file.mdb, there's no "security and sharing" tab on the context menu. is there anything that can be done?
thanks.

makeitso,
thanks. i read that. but, i still can't get a security tab to show up on the .mdb file. any suggestions?
thanks.

Apply the security on the folder and check the box to make all files and subfolders inherit this folders security settings.

thanks.
here's what i had to do for the "security" tab to show on the folder:
tools/folder options/view - uncheck "use simple file sharing"
after i did that, the security tab showed up on the databasefile.mdb and it showed a few users including guest.
i set them all to full control (read, write....) for all users.
thanks.

Ah sure, forgot about that.
But then: do set the security on the folder level with downward inheritance.
why?
==> Because your MDB security will reset once you compact your db...
