Hi,
I have a scanned photo that I'm printing up to poster size which has a scratch on the negative. My scanner has image correction, but this scratch is showing up anyway when the photo is blown up. I tried zooming in and matching colors/ filling in pixels etc. But after 30 minutes or so, it was still there.
Is there anyway to isolate the scratch and fill in only that area with pixels and color matching? I've done this before, but it was in an obvious border of white being filled in with a darker color.

When I try any retouching at normal size the result is very poor/heavy handed and very obvious. thanks for any help.

If you have tried the cloning tool in gimp you might want to try the Clone Tool in Serif PhotoPlus 5.5 in my opinion it is better. [pc3]
