How do I find the version of the Solaris OS?

Thanks,

Joani

When I did showrev, i got the following info:
release 5.5.1
Kernel architechture su4d
application architecture sparc

So, what is this solaris 8. I was thinking it will show something like soalris 8.0.1 etc. Sorry for my ignorance.

Thanks,

Joani

SunOS 4 is Solaris 1 and SunOS 5 is Solaris 2, so 5.5.1 is also 2.5.1

Solaris 8 is really 2.8 (or 5.8) I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

So, what is solaris 7?

After solaris 2, were there solaris 3, solaris 4 etc? Could someone point to me some websites which will help me to understand this?

Thanks,

Joani

Thread60-59448 might explain a little more. You could also try a search on SunOS and 'Solaris Versions' in this forum. Hope this helps.

Solaris 2.4 is SunOS 5.4
Solaris 2.5.1 is SunOS 5.5.1
solaris 2.6 is SunOS 5.6
Solaris 7 is Solaris 2.7 and SunOS 5,7
Solaris 8 is Solaris 2.8 and SunOS 5.8 I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
