whould you please tel me how can I find Part numbers of software parts of Hipath 4000 or Openscape 4000 (version 1 to 10)?
Already I need part number of license linux unify hipath 4000 Version 6.

Normally you have a system release for the version, such as V7R2 and that loads all the base stuff for SLES and the rest of the applications, and there can be a few upgrades to those, such as V7R2.23. From that point they normally release "hotfixes" which are groups of updates and fixes for the release your on. There are sometimes a number of them, so it's usually best to just ask for "the latest hotfixes for V7R2.23.x". The platform (SUSE) generally only gets updated with larger dootpoint releases, but there are frequent updates for Assistant, CSTA, RMX, and Loadware. To ask for a specific version unless you are told to may not bring you to the current patch level.

The only way to really know what's out there is to ask a vendor or have access to the partner portal so you can look it up (which can be a challenge in itself), and sometimes they will post updates for general release and then pull them back because of problems so it doesn't pay to stay right at the bleeding edge either.

So far so good.
thank you so much dear donb01, so there is no easier way to work with unify. [bigsmile]
I have portal access but it is really hard to find such a basic information.
I found the part number as: L30220-Y622-A899

Best Regards

If you can get into the partner portal you have to follow the secret ritual to find what you need.

You have to choose software Downloads

Then in search, For the first level you have to choose Communications or something like that, and then you have to choose the OS4K, and then say Search, and it should show you a list of all the software downloads. Find the version you are on (V6, V7, etc), and then find the Sub version (such as V7R2) and then look for the minor version (such as V7R2.23.x). Then you should see things like V7R2.23 Assistant Hotfix 15, and hotfixes for the CSTA I think V2.220.4 is current, RMX, etc. Make sure it says General Availability. Get both the release notes, and the file, and READ the release notes. Some of them will tell you about prerequisites or warnings about stuff, or things that are going to change if you install it.

If you have never done this before, there is more to it than that. There needs to be a specific directory structure on drive C: of the computer you will be running Software Transfer on. For some of the updates, when you unzip them it will automatically create the directory structure, and for others you will need to copy the .tar file in the proper directory by hand (this is spelled out in the release notes).

Unify is not that hard to work with. I go through a vendor, but I just tell them basically to send me all the latest updates and hotfixes for my system, and they send me what is appropriate. I have limited access to the portal, but it's not all that fun to drive around in! In order to be entitled to the updates you need to have a software assurance contract with Unify.
