Basically if I walk into a building I can find a wireless access point if it has one. BUt what I can't do is tell what the IP scheme is. WHat program can I use to find this out without trying everything under the sun?

THanks, AV

You don't need to know, as long as you have permission to connect to the network leave it set as DHCP and the server will send all the net config info.

Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?

Yes but there is more to my wanting to find something that will help in this area besides DHCP. Another example is this. I went on site to help find out why this company could connect sometimes to the internet but not always. They had four different wiring closets and 4 different devices on the network giving out different IP schemes. I needed something to scan the network and find out what all was on it.

Thanks for the post, AV

Try Netstumbler(wireless and wired versions)
