There are a few workarounds I've used for analog lines, typicaly those suspected of no use.
Create a mailbox and Phantom/ACD 'nnnn' - in other words, a mailbox #nnnn that answers on the first ring.
Set the mailbox to outcall you when it has a message.
On the suspect analog TNs, add FTR HOT D 4 nnnn so when someone tries to place a call, they are sent to the mailbox that prompts them to leave a message to report the problem of "cant dial out"
You'll be notified right away and be able to "fix" the phone. You'll have the DN in the voice message header too.
Some time later, check the list against those you added HOT to and out the ones that never left a message.
one thing i've done along the same lines if to have the hot d call my set.. usually 6 to 10 at a time. or put a ringer in series with the jumper and call it.. if that rings there is a ringer on the far end.. you can also take a reading with an analog meter on the cable pair, jumper removed, then take the same reading reversed, watch the needle swing, that "kick" in the swing of the needle will be a cap on the far end... it's a old trick but for a few analog tn's you need back, i've done it..
