How to find IP?

Hi not sure what forum to put this in??

we have purchased a DEll powerconnect 3024 second hand

WE need to get the IP address to manage it via a browser, the default does not work 192.168.0.1

how can you determine a devices IP address when you do not know it? help please, thanks

This is a cisco swithing forum, but I'll take a try at helping.

SInce you bought it secondhand and don't need the configuration that is on there, I would reset the switch to factory default, then reconfigure the IP Address. Follow this link to the factory default reset instructions.

This will not reset the IP address, but then it should reset the passwords to default and allow you to configure the IP address from the serial console interface. Then you will be able to manage it with the browser interface. If you need any more details, I would give a search on Dell's web site or call their tech support to help.
