How to find/get rid of phantom sessions

Hello,

We had a process that was sitting out there for days. One of the SysAdmins killed it in unix "kill -9" before we could kill it using onmode -z.

Now it appears that the session is 'stuck' in informix and we are trying to figure out how to kill the phantom processes...any clues?
