How to fade out text from one direction

Hi,

this is the third forum I try, on the two before this I currently have a total of 74 views but no replies.

I am trying to fade out some text from left, very much like the transition-effect, but with a bit smoother fade-out from the left. See source file:
My problem is doing the same thing on a background that is not white or single colored, and without having that white box ruining the background. Any suggestions?
