I have a dynamic text box populated with data from an ASP page. This works successfully but I now need to achieve the effect of fading the text in and out of my flash presentation in the same way that I use alpha to fade images in and out of it.

I have already attempted to embed the dynamic text as a movie clip into another movie and alpha the embedded movie but the text doesn't show up, perhaps this is a problem because it is database driven text?

Any ideas??

Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion but sadly even though I have now embedded the fonts and reimported it into my main flash movie I still get no text displayed. I know the embedded movie works as other elements show on screen it is purely the text that fails to display.

when all else fails cheat.

place a rectangle over the text box make it a movie clip and fade that in and out.

I had the same experience like you trying to fade dynamic text the only diff was that mine came through php and database(the same thing). Well it did work and I can't see much wrong with your idea. I converted the text to a mc then converted the text in the newly clip to a image and faded that image "text" I just made sure that the text box still had it's variable name. The data still loaded and displayed in the text box as retrived from the database and also it faded in and out...It's do-able...

You don't need eyes to see just the vision because there are always more ways and different answers to what we are used to...

dyn. text fields are not able for fading effect...

use device fonts to get clear a clear text then u can fade the text field. "use device font" is pretty good as long as u stay on the sure side and use fonts like arial and so on.

or you use pixelfonts. You will find pixelfonts online for free, but good ones, special ones cost something... me for my self i use "use device fonts" with arial.. it work everywhere.
