Hi
I have big DR prepare file. Does any body has script which extract prepare file and create sperate scripts ? What is sequence to run these scripts ?

THX

Hi

If Windows, look for planexp.vbs; UNIX, look for planexp.awk

I think they are contained within the "server" directory.

Hi
Mbourne2006
I saw script planexp.awk. Looks like it only extract scripts. Does it run extracted scripts in proper sequence or i have to run them ?

Thank you

Hello again

planexp.awk will "explode" the DRM planfile. If you take a look at the resultant scripts, one of them calls all the others in the correct sequence for you (I forget which one, but it should be fairly evident - shout if you need help). Be careful though, because the process *will* re-create all the disk files that underpin your DB and LOG, and will mark all your primary storage pool vols as "destroyed".

What are you planning? In most cases the DRM plan will need to be tweaked to make it relevant to the recovery platform.

Hi..

Quick question ....i have 3584 tape library. Where should i put database tape ( in one of drive or put in one of slot ) ?
THX

Well - it sounds like you are planning a DR test? Your DB backup needs to be referenced by the device config file that will be used by the DB restore process. In a nutshell, the "dsmserv restore db" command will look in the dsmserv.opt file to find out where the volume history and device configuration files are stored. The volume history file will provide the volume containing the relevant DB backup, whilst the device configuration file will provide the location in the library that stores that volume - think of it as a file-based equivalent of the library volumes table. So - insert the DB backup in a slot, not a drive.

One quick way to build the device configuration file you need is to initialize a basic instance of TSM using "dsmserv format". You need to be careful with environment variables, file locations, etc, but you can quickly generate a devconfig file that will provide the information your restore process will need.
