I am working on extending a 56k leased line. I know it uses 4 wires but which pairs should i punch it down on the cat5e mod jack. Then from the wall can i just use a ethernet cable?

Should be the same at a T1. 1,2,4 and 5.

An ethernet cable should work fine.

56K & 64K DDS circuits use an RJ48S wiring arrangement for 8-position modular hardware to connect CPE. The transmit pair is on pins 7 & 8(XMT to network) and the receive pair in on pins 1 & 2(RCV from network) of the 8-POSITION MODULAR PLUG & JACK.

It is NOT the same wiring as for T1/DS1 on RJ48C/X wiring arrangements on modular hardware!

The Bell System did it this way for a reason...

I agree with Sysquest, 56K uses 1,2,7 & 8. If you just use std cat5 cabling plan, it'll work fine...
