I need to enlarge the bounding box of an imported layer but it seems that there is no other way to do it. I need to enlarge the bounding box because some effects like wave warp cop the imported footage if there isn’t enough transparent area around the image.
As a work around I’ve precompose the layer anyway I am wondering if there is a simpler way to solve this problem.
Thanks.

Precomposing is always the best way.

If you have AE 6.x, you have a plugin called 'GROW BOUNDS'. This is not a practical tool, although effective in many instances.

It increases the pixel radius of the layer without effecting the image (like making the canvas bigger)

Because it's a PLUGIN!! it has to calculate that data, so use it sparingly.

Precomp when you can.
