I have a windows 2000 professional. In the services i changed (by mistake!) the properties of the service- "remote procedure call" from automatic to disable.
Apparently it is an important service, because now most of the services don't work and i can not even enter properties to cahnge it back.
Help needed urgently!
Thank you.

Open the registry and go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services

Click on both RpcLocater and RpcSs Keys and check the Start Value. Make sure its set to 2 for Automatic.
Reboot

Check out the references to Service entries in the registry:

Hope it helps

or enable recovery console. Then you can correct the behavor of ANY service.
From MS point of view (and my too) it is better that registry editing.
