I guess, by reading fields names in my Lotus database, that program supports email notifications.
But, how to enable them?

If it is not actually possible, could I "emulate" them using an external application to monitor db updates through COM programming?

A few questions to clarify :

1) are you talking about your email db, or an application db ?
2) what kind of notifications are you referring to : ones that the db sends to the user, or ones sent to the db by a user or a process ?

In any case, the only notifications that are "automatic" are the ones you can set up in the Rules section of your mail db. If you are not referring to your mail db, you'll have to program your notifications anyway. The good news is that you have no need of an external application to do so, with some Notes programming, you'll be able to do that.

I'm talking about Lotus sending me an email every time it detects a change in one of its documents.

Unfortunately I have no privileges to write agents in this db. Is there a "workaround"?

If you do not have Design access yourself, then you are pretty much reduced to making a feature request to the relevant authorities.
There is no workaround to not having design rights if the application does not have what you want built into it.
