Hi,

I use tar command for backup and I have
written a shell script for entire system Backup.
I have DAT drive which capacity is 12/24Gb.Now a days my file has been increased
and I am facing problem with backup.
Is any command which use with tar command and take the backup in DAT or any another switch in tape drive through which I can enable the hardware compression of DAT.

Please note:--(1)currently data capacity is 11 GB.
(2)Before taking the backup in DAT script use
tar and gz.

Thanks,

Regd

To enable compression use c option on device ie. "/dev/rmt/0c " will use compression on the tape drive. Other options exist ie. l for low (density) m for medium h for high.
