I have an Adaptec 19160 SCSI conroller. It seems to work fine. My system is booting on one of the harddrives, and i see all of scsi-devices in windows.

BUT, when i start the mashine, i suppose i should see the SCSI bios where it detecting SCSI-devices, an dwhere i could press "ctrl-a" for configure. I don't.

Is there anyone out there who knows how to enable the bios to my controller so i can configure it?

Tanks for all help i get.

Dgut.

May be a utility on a CD that came with the controller? Ed Fair

I have several of these adapters myself. It sounds to me that a couple of things in your SCSI's bios have been disabled. What you should try to do on your next reboot after memory has posted for the machine is hold down the [Ctrl] key and continually press the [A] key until the SCSISelect Utility appears on your screen. The adapter should still be "listening." If this procedure works and the utility come up, go into the <Configure/View Host Adapter Settings> option. On the next screen go down to <Advanced Configuration Options> and press [Enter]. On this screen make sure to set the <Display [Ctrl][A] Message During Bios Initialization> to <Enabled> and the <Verbose/Silent> option to <Verbose>. These settings should have come to you this way by default if the card was brand new, so I'm guessing you got it from somewhere else.

Another issue you might be experiencing is that your PC may be popping up a "splash" screen during startup and you just don't see the adapter posting because it is in the background. If this is the case you should be able to disable the screen in the PC's bios somewhere. Or try hitting the [Esc] key when you see the "splash" screen to see if it goes away. Several PC manufacturers use such screens such as DELL and Compaq to name a couple.

I hope this helps you.
