how to embed text documents and programs

I am interested in having visio link text documents to icons in my diagrams. Example, you click on router 1 and the config pop up. Is this possible without using a db?

Just insert a Hyperlink button (it's in the Borders and Titles stencil). When you drop the button on your drawing it asks for the hyperlink target. A right-click on the button will bring up your target.

You can also add the hyperlink section to any shape's Shapesheet and set up your hyperlink manually.
