Hi,
I'm a Premiere-newbie (pretty good with Photoshop, but never used Premiere).
I have 2 miniDV tapes of the same 30-minute event, shot from different angles (one in close-up, one from further away). I'm looking for some basic guidance on how to edit/cut/splice these two tapes, so I can get the best angles from both tapes into a single 30-minute output, while still preserving the timeline and the audio track.

Any pointers/feedback/links to a FAQ somewhere which I did not see, would be most welcome.

well, as they say, hit or miss.
Unless you have access to a major editing deck ,that can timecode both of your tapes, you will have to do captures of both tapes manually and "hand/eye" match the audio tracks of both. The cut/edit each avi/movie file to your liking.
