Hi

I am a biginner in the Notes field. I want to edit the names.nsf file on a very regular basis for other people. I want to be able to get the name of the server and mail file from a text file and insert it into a names.nsf file.

I do not want to do it in Notes. VB or from Excel.

TIA

Well, it would be a easiest to use Notes, just write a simple LotusScript agent - no more than an hour's work even for a novice. To do it from some other app (excluding excel & vb) I quess leaves C++. You'd need to make a standard C++ application to read in your text file, then use the Domino Com objects to hook into the domino server and alter the document records. - Probably about a weeks work for a seasoned C++ programmer.

Are you sure you wouldn't want to use notes to modify a notes database?

I do not know C++ so it will have to be the first option, LotusScript. One hour sounds alot better than a week. Can you recommend a site where I can get a quick overview of LotusScript.

Thanks for your reply.

Sure, You probably don't need to look any further than the help database that comes with the Domino Designer client. There is a lot of tutorial and example code there. Otherwise, just sing out here if you have a specific issue or question.

That just killed me. I do not have Designer access. Thanks for the help. I will have to do it the manual way instead of automating the process.
