how to download "idat" file for

Trying to find out how I can download a "idat" file for weekly McAfee 4.5.1 dat file update. I need incremental Dat file, not super/regular Dat file which is much much smaller than regular dat file. If anybody knows please let me know.

You can download the incremental DATs from the FTP server, but it won't be of any use since it will not be in a self-installing format. The .UPD format has to be "added" by the program to the existing DAT files. NAI does not provide for SuperDAT-type incremental updates.

Thanks avchap, but where are now! have you made it in anyway that you could use it. My problem is the size of the regular .Dat file which for some remote user to download it to their local drive takes 8 to 10 minutes. So, I am hoping that idat might be smaller and be useful for me. Do you know the address of this ftp server.

There also is a dat-XXXX.zip which has 2 Mb less than de sdat file.

In order to make full use of the incremental DATs, make sure to mirror them to a local site, then point the remote sites to get the updates from there. In this way, they will get the incremental updates instead of the full ones.
