I'm trying to create a crosstab using Impromtu 7.1 that looks like this:

Rows: Headcount (calculation)
Sales (actual field)
Billable hours (actual field)

Columns: Engineering, Professional, Finance

Looks like this:

Engineering | Professional | Finance

Headcount 100 50 54
Sales 50 200 112
B. Hrs 400 200 450

I can get the columns with no problem. It's the rows and cells I can't figure out.

Why do you need to do this as a crosstab ?

Why not use a simple columnar report with measures as columns and Departments as rows.

Just add each of your fields to the report, group by department and summarise the data as necessary.

Gary,

Thx for your help. I need Engineer, Professional, Finance as column headings and Headcount, Sales, Billable Hours as Rows.

Then under each column i need the #'s for each row. Kind of like how you would do it in an excel spreadsheet.

I guess a better way to put it is i need a multiple row, multiple column cross-tab.

Please give examples of data and expected outcome.

Gary-

I tried to give an example in my original post but the formatting didnt do right.

Engineering Professional Finance
Headcount 100 200 300
Sales 50 75 100
Billable Hrs 200 30 20

Imagine 3 columns: Engineering, Pro. and Finance

Now imagine 3 rows (Headcount,Sales, etc) for each of the aboce columns.

Then imagine #'s of the cells for each of those columns and rows.

Please give an additional example of the structure of the data in the data source.
