Hello. How can I create and link a DXR file to a movie and/or projector? I have a program that includes a commercial directory, and I want to use a DXR file for the different sections (restaurants, toy stores, taverns, etc). Is this a good idea? I've never used DXR files, and the help in director 8 spokes alot of shockwave, but I can't find about DXR... Thank you :D

Go to the Xtras drop down menu at the top and choose the option Update Movies. In that menu that pops up select the
choice that says protect movies. To link them to a movie or proj use the play movie behavior. For instance
on mouseDown
play movie "x"
end
where x is the name of your dxr file.

Just remember if you select delete during the process to make a copy first! Once you protect that movie, there's no going back. Cheers~Frank Cheers~Frank

Thank you!! Everything went fine. And I finally found that subject in the help :S.
Some advice about using DXR files?
Thank you

Treat dxr files like you would dir files, only you can not
go into Director and edit them. DXR files are what most people use to distribute their final work on CD-ROM (along with a projector) because the end-user can not get into the file and look at the code. And take the advice from above and make sure you back up your dir files.
