How to do out of process calls

I need to port code that uses an Activex control. It has the requirement to run in its own process.

In the past I created an ActiveX EXE to hold the control and if I needed multiple instances each ActiveX was running out-of proc.

With Dot Net I am not allowed to reference EXEs only DLLs and I tryed to run in different AppDomains but still is the same process so my control complains.

Any good avdice on out-of proc and Dot net is very apreciated.
