I have 2 nic in my windows 2000 server....
nicA : 10.0.0.254 which has default gateway 10.0.0.1 which is a NAT
nicB : 202.x.x.100 which has default gateway 202.x.x.254 has VPN dail-in so that I can access the computer in 10.0.0.x

so, by default... I need to set the metirc of gateway 10.0.0.1 smaller then 202.x.x.254 so that the server can access Internet... when I need to connect by a VPN client... I need set the metric of 202.x.x.254 gateway smaller then that of 10.0.0.1

i need to exchnage everytime I connect and disconnect...

what is the best way in this situation??
or I made mistake?

That's my situation!!! thx

Can't Ping External Network Adapter After Configuring RRAS as a VPN Server

SYMPTOMS: After you configure the RRAS as a virtual private network (VPN) server in Windows 2000 Server with two or more network adapters, pinging the external network adapter does not work. This behavior occurs only while RRAS is running. Pinging the external network adapter succeeds when RRAS is stopped.
RESOLUTION: When you use the Routing and Remote Access Server Setup Wizard to configure RRAS as a VPN server, Input and Output filters are automatically configured on the external network adapter to process only VPN traffic and disable all ports and protocols except protocol 47 (GRE), TCP port 1723 for PPTP Outbound/Inbound, UDP 500 for ISAKMP and UDP 1701 for L2TP. To allow pinging to and from the external network adapter, add Inbound and Outbound filters to the adapter to allow ICMP packets to be processed on the adapter. To do this, go to Routing and Remote Access>Server Name>IP Routing>General, In the right pane, right-click the adapter that has been configured as the external adapter, and then click Properties>Input Filters>Add, In the Protocol box, click ICMP. Do the same on Output Filters.

But what if I really want to set my 10.0.0.1 as the default gateway but dailing thtough 202.x.x.100?

is there any possible way?

why do you want to do that? any way, if you want to set 10.0.0.1 as the default gateway, you will need to modify the routing table.
