How to do image capture with Quicktime

We need to capture some individual images from a home movie viewed in Quicktime. Quicktime doesn't appear to have a feature for doing this, and for some reason prevents us from putting the movie on pause and using Image Capture to get an individual image.

Any help would be appreciated.
