Hello All,
I am a new Legato user, this is my first post.
I have installed Legato Networker 6.0.1 on our Unix Solaris
system. We are running a full backup on Sundays and incrementals the remaining days. I would like to exclude
one of our file systems from the incrementals, and exclude a different one from the full backup. How do you do this since there is just one client defined, which contains the save set definition? We would like to use the same pool of tapes (we have 9, in an autoloader). Do I have
to define a different group, or do I have to use a 'directive', or something else?
Thanks,
Trish

Hi,

Here's what I would do:

1) Create 2 custom schedules. One should have have the full on one day, and skip on the others. The other should have the other levels (in this case, incrementals) with a skip on the full day.

2) Create a second group for the full backup. (You cannot have 2 client profiles for the same client with save sets of all in the same group.

3) Create 2 directives. One that will skip the area you wish to exclude for the full, and the other for the incremental.

4) Create a second client profile, for the full. Give it the appropriate schedule, directive and the second group you created.

5) Change the client profile for the incremental to use the new directive and schedule.

You'll also have to configure the groups, and their start times.. This is probably the easiest way to do what you're looking for without haveing scripts that manipulate the clients with nsradmin..

Anyone else have any other ideas?

Good Luck!

Thanks ag100! I implemented your suggestions
this weekend and it's working out quite nicely.
