How to do Centrex transfer in PBX if phone "lines" are voice/data T1?

I work for a golf reservation center. A golf course is trying to forward its teetime calls to us via its auto attendant ("press 1 for a teetime" would be transferred to our reservation center).

The problem is that the golf course uses a voice/data T1 with only 6 channels allocated to voice, and each transferred call is taking up 2 voice channels. I am arguing with their phone vendor, saying that SURELY there must be SOME way to enable a "Centrex transfer" type of functionality on the T1 line so the transfer will just use up one channel. But he is insisting that no, this is impossible.

Does anyone have any experience with this? The phone system is a Panasonic that did Centrex transfer (offsite) in the past so it definitely has the capability.

Thank you!

With T1 you would require Two B-Channel Transfer (TBCT). TBCT allows a PBX set user to transfer an external call to another external destination and have the two external parties connected through the trunks at the Central Office (CO).

Both the PBX AND the CO must support the capability.

Occam's Razor - All things being equal, the simplest solution is the right one.

Much depends on the local exchange carrier (not PBX vendor) at the golf course. If carrier can support a hookflash type transfer, then it will work fine. If the carrier cannot, then using two B channels is the only solution.

Who said anything about B channels? From the description in the original post, this looks like a CAS DS1, not a PRI. So if that is the case, is the DS1 terminated in the Panasonic or on a IAD or Channel Bank? But in either case, the Panasonic should be able to "hookflash" the channel, which in effect pulses the signaling bits the same as a "hookflash" would do from an FXS channel unit.

My question to lindaeff is: who is the service provider and what did they sell you? Also please clarify any of the above.

Only thing is Transfer is a Centrex Feature if the vendor does not have a Centrex package in his Central Office no go.
And by the sounds of the posting this is not a Major LEC
