i have a list of projects. each project has a start date and end date. the date range will be in the current year, but not always starting in january, could be starting in february. also, doesn't always end in december, could end in october. i have a budget amount that i need to divide out evenly over the months in the date range. i also have to display the amount for each month.

a simple formula of Month(enddate)-Month(begdate)+1 will yield the number of months you will need to divide by.

To display each month as a column, I would use a cross tab, however cross tabs do not show columns where there is no data, so if you had a project starting in Jan and ending in July you would see only those 2 columns.

To get around this you will need to add some "dummy" data to your database so that the cross tab will "find" some data, even if it is zero, and make the columns you require.

I hope this helps.
