Hello to all, I am getting frustrated trying to show the page numbers on my power point presentation....I go to "insert" then "header and footer" and in the "notes and handouts tab" I checked the "page number" option but I do not see the page number in any of the slides....Please help? Please look at the attachment and you'll see what I get in the "preview window" I am not sure what it means but I think it is placing the page numbers below the slides?....Thanks so much

Go to VIEW-MASTER-MASTER ELEMENTS Make sure that Slide number is selected and click OK. Then select VIEW-MASTER-SLIDE MASTER from here you can move the location of the page number and format the font.

If you want numbers on the slides, don't go to the "notes and handouts" tab. The slide number checkbox is on the Slides tab.

Alternatively, Insert tab, click Slide Number

BTW, To get to Master View, it is View, Slide Master

Thanks Lilliabeth, I have tried checking the slide number checkbox on the Slides tab, not only it does not work but when I go back to that option I find that the check box has been unchecked...it is as if it is not saving that setting...I also have a footer that may be on the way but even when I deleted it the slide numbers do not show...also this power point was not created by me...it was sent to me

In the pane on the left, point at each master and read the screentip to find the master used by your slides.

(I suspect you are currently viewing the Theme master.)

I suspect the page number box has been deleted in the master you are using. To get it back, find the appropriate master and uncheck Footers then re-check it. Then I think you 'll be able to use the Slides tab and check Slide number.

If you hover the mouse over one of the slidemasters in the left pane, you will get a screentip telling you which slides use that master. When you find the one that is used by the slides that you are having trouble with, click on it.

Then look at the Ribbon... uncheck the Footers checkbox then re-check it.

ok got it, but the footers check box is grayed out, I am not able to un-check it :-(

What is the name of the master you are looking at? For example, is it the "Title and Content Layout" master or what?

If you are still looking at the Blue Horizon master, I believe that is the Theme master and not the correct one... it would be normal for Footers to be grayed out on the Theme master.

Again, that is the Theme master. It is normal for Footers to be grayed out.

Please point to the OTHER masters and find the OTHER master that is used by your slides. It is probably third from the top.

When you find it, click on it then uncheck and re-check Footers.

Now close Master View then go to the Insert tab, click Header and Footer, go to the Slides tab and check Page Number to see if we fixed the issue.

netadmin06,

These little purple stars, which I am sure you have noticed, serve as a tangible Thank You! to a contributor.

They also indicate a helpful posts to OTHER members, who might be browsing for a good tip.

And they show, as well, that you are someone who demonstrates their appreciation.

So now's the time to thank Lilliabeth properly.
