how to disable telnet on MGC card and Telephony Node CS1000 - 81C

All,

Hello and good day. I am in process of our security to our CS1000e and 81C Avaya system. I am looking to disable telnet to the specific Telephony Node and MGC cards.

I did a disable rlogin for the under shell login and enabled the secure and disabled the insecure.

However when looking through items on Avaya(as well as speaking with Avaya) and here on tek tips.
But it states that doing what I did for Rlogin that this would resolve the telnet as well.

I dont see how to specific to each item telephony node or MGC.


Any help would be wonderful on how to or even a document on how to.

In speaking with Avaya it should be an easy fix, I need to submit a change to even do this that is why I am inquiring on specifics.

I don't know of anyway to disable Telnet for a node, it is however turned on and off in the linux for each signal server. Harden telnet on and harden telnet off. As far as MGC cards, I have no idea. MGC cards are not linux, some kind of proprietary software I guess.

Thank you for the response. I have searched for this and the file provided for Avaya makes no mention of how to disable telephony node or MGC.

The Node isn't really a device, just a group of devices, so that explains that.

In a secure network why does it matter if telnet is on?

I think I would spend my time securing the network and not worrying about telnet. You may need to telnet to the MGC card. We do in our environment often.
