Hi,

having trouble with an older cmos-programmin application. I think it's the power saving functions in Win XP. I have heard, that it's possible to disable power saving for the serial ports, but I cannot find it anywhere? All help highly appreciated :D

I haven't heard about the power saving for serial ports in XP but have for USB. If it is USB you are having problems with do the following:

1: Click Start | Run | type devmgmt.msc and select OK to open system properties.

2: Expand the universal serial bus controllers.

3: Double click on the USB Root Hub to open the Properties.

4: Select the Power Management tab and uncheck the 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'.

Hope this helps - if not give a bit more infomation on the problem.

Regards

Bald B
