Hi,

I need to disable certain users access to Internet. Is there a way to disable internet access from Windows environment so users can't browse the internet?

Currently, I am using PIX firewall as a gateway to internet.

Thanks,

Ruyd

Either set up a group policy and disable it from there. Are you running DHCP?

If not just take out their Gateway or add a proxy server in their Internet Connection LAN setup (enter a non existent IP address and they should get the cannot display page error).

Not sure whether you can block internal IP addresses from you PIX firewall.

You can block internal ip addresses with access lists on a cisco router. Although I highly recommend that you don't go this route.

Create a new OU. Move those users you don't want to be able to use IE into that OU.

Create a GPO (group policy object), and restrict that program to be used. GPO's kick butt after you learn how to tinker with them.

If you disabled IE they can access it with windows explorer,
use GPO to set the proxy to 127.0.0.1 and hide that setting.
