now a year or so ago I installed Cool'n'Quiet and I now want to get ride of .
could you please tell me how to remove/disable this thing?

See my answer in your other post. You should be able to undo the settings that are enabling it. Also look in ADD/REMOVE programs - it might be an uninstallable option there.

Cool'n'Quiet is a bios option although I do believe that there was some sort of driver for it as well.
Just go into the bios and reset those options.
You might also see fan control options (quiet fan) again disable or uncheck.
As for the driver, you won't see it in add/remove, it just enables the function to work if sellected.

Alternatively you could always install a quieter HeatSink Fan for the CPU...

costs a bit more, but peace at last...

BadBigBen...the question is how to uninstall Cool'n'Quiet hmmm I guess herbeapuce might have set it in the first place because the fan was noisey but he doesn't mention that.
A valid point if noise was the reason for using this setting in the first place.

It could still be a physically bad fan. That should be the first stage of troubleshooting.

@Paparazi - I had his other post still in mind when I answered this one, there he mentioned that it was driving him nuts, that the fan would 'see-saw' back and forth... thread779-1441392

PS: Nice Poem...

@herbeapuce - glad to hear that the problem is solved...
