how to disable a recorder on Win98 SE

Hi,

i have a recorder and i need to keep only CD-ROM functionnality but not recorder, is it a way to do it? (i know it's possible on xp but win98??)

thanks for the answer but i'm speaking about hardware solution (or parameters under w98)...

smah has it correct. You can either enable or disable the whole drive in Device manager or not give it any software to use to burn with.
We are talking 98 right? It does not have any built in software.
