How to determined installed windows programs and disabel some using vb

Hi, am relatively new to vb programming. Im doing a project about a cyber software and would like to know how i could list all the programs installed on a client computer from the server and disable some.
Anybody with an idea or a place with tutorials on programming with windows regisrty?

This forum is geared towards the Windows API, and as a suggestion, if you're a VB programmer, you'll need to know how to make calls to DLLs in order to make use of any suggestions that people have. So I would learn how to use the Declare statement while you're waiting.
