How to determine the version of existing AIX?

run the command oslevel -r. You can also go into smit and choose Installed Software and determine the maintainence levels that are installed.

#oslevel (displays version,release and modification)

#oslevel -q (displays known maintenance levels/version/release)

#oslevel -r (version,release,modification and latest maintenance level in aix system)
