How can you verify that a 206 module is actually what it reads on the case?
Thanks,
Kevin

Use the 206 as a standalone Partner Basic phone system. Plug in a phone and press Feature # 1. Listen for the beep codes.
Rel 1 -- 1 beep
Rel 2.0 -- 3 beeps
3.0 -- 1 + 3 beeps
3.1 -- 1 + 3 beeps
4.0 -- 2 + 3 beeps
4.1 -- 4 + 1 beeps

that only works with a 206e

a 206 requires a processor

no ?

Actually, that will work for a 206 NON-e, which will function as a stand-alone Partner system. For a 206-E, I can't think of any way to confirm what's inside of the case, except to check features that came out with certain releases, such as MW lite on SL tele's.

Thanks for the info,

It would be great to develop a chart to test 1 or 2 features to determine the rev level of the 206E's.
Anyone know of one already done?
As a repair house we receive a lot of 206's that have had cases swapped and so forth.

Thanks again,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Look at some of the main chips for a date code and software rev on processor IC's. This will go a long way to figuring this out. You can easily figure that out. Most cards are probably untouched so you can figure it out.
