where can i find list of known viruses that will run on aix? how can i detect if any viruses, worms or trojans are running on my aix box?

thanks a lot,

There are no viruses, worms or trojans in AIX or any other unix operating system. That is only for the intel world.

Unix viruses usually work by trust, I send you an email with a request to delete some critical files, you go into your system files and delete files at random.... [noevil]

There are trojans/worms in Unix, just it's not as common as in the windows world. Main thing is to check which sub-systems are running and turn them off if not needed. Also make sure you are up to date on your security apars....

btw, I'm new here, great info on this sight!

Welcome Grepper :)

Chuck: That article is written by some idiot with a home computer where he only has a root account.

One of the most favorite payloads observed in the wild is "/bin/rm -rf / >/dev/null 2>&1"

If the above can do any damager on his system then HE is at fault, not Unix. Unix was not meant to be run by idiots, only used by them.

I didn't even bother to read the rest.
