Is there a way to obtain a description of tables using code in Enterprise Guide, perhaps something in a Proc SQL? I'm looking to list the fields in a table, and haven't figured out how to do it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I dont have enterprise guide, but if it can run SAS code why not use the PROC CONTENTS procedure.

Syntax for proc contents
Code:
proc contents data = your_table_name <out=out_table_name>;
run;

By default this proc dumps the list to the SAS output window. By using the OUT option you could have the information in a SAS table.

Thanks Klaz,

I'll try that.

I appreciate you be willing to help out!

In enterprise guide you can use the "Data Set Attributes" task which is unde the Data heading in your Tasks list.
