How to delete Server Extension and upgrade - Urgent

Hi,
I have recently upgraded windows NT server to w2k advanced server, after the upgrade I can not add any front page extension to web sites, I get the following error message.
Microsoft Server Extension:
The server Administration programs and the server extensions on the web server are not compatible. The Administration program is tool old to use with this server.

I have deleted couple of files related to 4.0 directory from the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions directories.

I can see two server extension in my domain, however, I guess both of them does not work. I want to remove the 4.0 extension from my domain and upgrade the server extension to 2000

uninstall IIS and reinstall...

Is there no workaround for that ??

Also, do you know what is the _vti_somefile which can used to cotrol access to the website. I guess this file is created after cretaing the server extensions for the website.
