How to delete old inventory items

Here is another problem I have. We have a lot of inventory items for merchandise that we no longer carry. When I try to delete the item it says that I cannot delete inventory items that have transaction details.. How do I get past that? Some of the transactions are from 2006? Is there a way to bypass and reduce my inventory list?

Use the inventory utilities to delete.

2006 is actually just a few years ago, not like it was 2001. Most companies want to know the history of items for the last few years. If you delete these items some departments such as purchasing might not like it.
