I have a starplus dispatch where I need to set up new users on existing extensions. If I follow the directions to delete a mailbox and then create a mailbox at the same extension it still has the old users greetings, messages, etc.

How do I delete a mailbox and then create a new fresh one in its place?

Thanks

How are you set up to program the VMS by phone or laptop?

I can do either. I have access both ways.

Go into the menues screen, there you will find Subscribers, Highlight and click delete, that will take you to the Delete Subscriber Range, enter the mailbox you want to delete where it say's Start extension, then enter 1 in Number To Delete, then press OK
Then exit programming.

I should have told you that in the Delete Subscribers Range you can also delete a rang of box's but be carefull that there isn't a box that you don't want to delete in that range

I'm not at the box right now, but I think that was pretty much what I was doing. Are you shure your steps delete the greetings and messages for the old user? Thats the real problem I am having. As soon as I set up a new user after the old user was deleted, the new mailbox has all the greetings and messages of the old box (but it does run the new user through the setup of a new mailbox)

I don't know much about Vodavi, but if resetting the box becomes to much of a problem, couldn't you just delete all the messages, then re-record the greeting.

mattgray,
Yes, if you have it to where it's asking for you to set up the reset box you sure can just go over and put the new info in as long as you reset or know the password.

sburk,
Did you take out the owners name and delete all messages in the box before you deleted it?

I could go in and delete all the messages and stuff but that seems like a pain. I have to set up about 1000 mailboxes for a school system. It just seems like if you delete a mailbox it would delete all the messages and greetings but I guess it doesnt work that way.

There are allot of voice mails, different makes and models that require that the mailbox be empty before deleting. Just one of those pain in the butt things that you run into.

The Dispatch does a clean up at midnight (programable). You have to delete wait till past midnight then add. I ran into this problem several years ago didn't know the still have it.
