I've cobbled together a Merlin Magix system to "woodshed" on. The auto attendant answers and I can transfer around based on the programmed selector codes without any problems.

As of now, the auto attendant answers right after the first ring. I'm trying to figure what to change that so I can specify a different number of rings before the auto attendant kicks in.

Components, aside from the R4 processor, include (from left to right) Merlin Messaging R4, 800 GS/LS-ID, 024 TDL and 016 ETR.

System is in Key Mode with nothing fancy done (not yet anyway[wink]).

I auto configured the Merlin Messaging and pointed 4 POTS lines (801-804) towards the default extension of 7929. I thought I could use the Cover Delay->Group approach for extension 7929, but the system balks when I enter 7929.

Is this a situation where I would have to create a mailbox, assign it as an auto attendant, remove the phone lines from 7929 and point them to that new extension? [ponder]

Hey Dex-

Take an unused calling group, such as 791

Assign the lines here, instead of 7929

Make 791 overflow to 7929, with 99 calls, and however many seconds you want (about 5 seconds per ring cycle)

Make a mailbox 791 that points to the Auto Attendant

Hi TTT!

I'd be a lost cause without your assistance over the years.[sadeyes].

I wish there was some way I could express my thanks for all the help you give here and all the other boards you write for. [bigsmile]

You are truly tops in the field! [thumbsup2]

I'll make the changes tomorrow afternoon and post the results!

I didn't get to implement the changes TTT listed because I didn't have my documents with me. [banghead]

I'll give it a shot on Friday when I will have more free time on my hands. [smile]

I was trying to locate some sort of reference as to where the "Time Base" and "Number Base" parameters are located so I can set them accordingly, but I'm drawing blanks. (Glad this is a woodshed system [wink])

Look Here:

Menu > System Prog > Start/Exit > Extensions > More > Grp Calling > Overflow > Enter Grp to Overflow > (7XX) > Enter cover overflow grp number > (7XX) > ENTER - And here is where your 3 choices pop up.

Remember, 99 in NUMBER based really means ZERO. Don't ask me why, that's just how it is.

Interesting piece of info that the "99" actually means "0". That reminded me of the Tellabs Titan 5500 I work with here at the office.

With the Tellabs Titan 5500 DCS, you can choose different alarm profiles to assign to a circuit. Profile 99 will not generate any visual alarms so, in a way, 99 means 0. [smile]

I was able to free up some time to work on the Magix.

TTT and Merlinman both nailed it! Now the auto attendant grabs after 4 or so rings. (I am using a B&K 1045B to simulate incoming calls).

Thanks again to both TTT and Merlinman for the assist!
[bigsmile]
