How to define a resource in other units than percentages 1

I have a need for defining a resource (in my case a heating cabinet in the lab) in terms of the amount of bottles it may hold. I want to define "2000 bottles" as the maximum allocation of this resource, however resources are usually defined in percentages. Of course it is possible to do the calculation to percentage ourself, but it would be nice to be able to insert the amount of bottles for each task directly into the "cabinet" resource.

Start here:

Tools > Options > Schedule-tab
change "Show assignment units as " to "decimal"

View > Resource list
Create the resource "bottles" and set Max Units to 2000

View > Gantt
Make your assignments to the various tasks

View > Resource Graph to see if you've overallocated. (Actually you can do that in several different displays but this gives you a pretty picture.)

Great. That is exactly what I wanted to know.
However, I would like to display this resource (the heating cabinet) in decimals in a larger project where several people also function as resources. These resources I would like to display in percentages. Is it possible to assign decimals and percentages to resources individually within the same project?

No. The option is a display toggle, nothing more.

Try this:
On the Resource Sheet, change the Type to Material for the heating cabinet, then enter in how many units of each on the Gantt Chart. This will now show up as a Quantity as opposed to a Percentage.
