How to decide whether the user input is a correct-form date?

anyone can tell me whether there is a function
to change user input to date or not?
I want to check whether a user's input is a correct form
of date or not.

I found this one a while back and have really found it useful. You can input dates in a variety of formats and it will send it back in the MM/DD/YYYY format. It is easy to change to return it in any format you need.
