Please help me, going nuts. HOW do I cut out the background from a line drawing using Corel Photo-Paint, so that when I apply it to a Corel document or Pagemaker, there is ABSOLUTELY no background??? No white square, nada! Cannot understand manual & Help feature.

I don't think there is a simple solution for doing this when exporting out of draw. It usually involves one of 2 methods. Either bring in more of your image to Draw, and create a bitmap within Draw, then export a bigger image, or export the portion of the Draw image that you have cut out, and send it to Paint. Then in Paint, mask the area you want to "cut" from the white backgorund (basically the area you just cut from draw), go to Object-> Create-> Object:Copy Selection (or Cut Selection if you prefer) or CTRL + UpArrow. Then you will have a new object of only the area that you have masked. This of course will have no border, no background, anything. Only what you have masked.

If you have a complex image (something with lots of colors and "holes") this can be a bit time consuming and sometimes a bit difficult. However, there are enough masking tools to make many of these complex tasks simple. If you need help with complex masking, reply with some specifics, and we'll address that issue. If you get something extreemely complex, about the best product out there is Corel Knockout. But unless you are doing extreme masking (i.e. fire, smoke, hair, shadows) quite acceptable results can be accomplished with the masking tools.

I usually just export the file as a GIF and knock out the background color (which is usually white) in the export window in Corel Photo Paint and it is then available as just the lines to open in any other program.

There are 2 different methods for this. A simple method for CorelDraw: import the image, whilst the image is selected go to Bitmaps menu >Bitmap Color Mask > Use the eyedropper tool to select the background colour you want to disappear and then adjust the tolerance for it's transparency. For Pagemaker, you will have to create a clipping path for the image in either Photopaint or Photoshop and then place the image into Pagemaker. Hope this helps
